i am going to have a veggie garden in the backyard. yesterday, my stepmom gave me a catalog of seeds and plants called the cook's garden. my grandparents left it there for us, and it gave me some ideas. i want to grow eggplant, carrots, tomatoes, swiss chard, rhubarb, and a variety of herbs. i would love to grow strawberries, but knowing the wildlife around here, they wouldn't make it.
my first step is to start composting. i don't know exactly what to use as the outdoor compost container. maybe one of the 8 million rubber bins we have sitting in the garage and basement. maybe i can get my hands on one of our old college theft favorites, the blue 55 gallon plastic drum. then i could make myself a turnable compost container. to buy those pre-made runs a couple hundred bucks, but there are sites all over the interwebz giving directions on how to build your own. rev up them power tools, lizzy!
eric wants to put the veggie garden outside the back door in front of where the roses are currently located. this works for me.
once i figure out exactly what plants i want to grow, i can go get some of those seed starter trays and get this show on the road.
