the new members of the fleet

i sat in the dark of the office.  the only light in the entire house was that of the fish tank hood, radiating out through the water.  resting my chin on the canister i keep the the baggies of fish food, i watched as my new german blue ram swam to the glass and watched me, too. the baby ram swam along the bottom, looking for tidbits of food left behind by the larger fish.

my 2 schools, the zebra danios and the australian rainbowfish, swam around the tank in no particular pattern, being sure to stay out of the pleco's way.  this is easy since that sea monster doesn't do much when the light is on.  the botia picked at the base of one of the plants. sometimes, i swear he farms the mossy algae that grows there.

raising his fins like a dog raising its hackles, the blue ram bit and chased the baby ram out of his 'territory.' i guess i need more functional decorations for the rams to hide in and claim as their own.

peaches draped her paws down the side of the tank from her perch on top of the hood.

the gourami nibbled on the algae wafers for a while.  they were meant for the pleco and the botia, but they'll get to them later, i suppose.  the fat little danios zipped around, nipping at each other playfully.  if you listened closely, you could almost certainly hear them giggling.

the rainbowfish, decidedly kings and queens of the tank, swim in all areas of the water, nearly at the top of the heirarchy set up by the other fish. i turned off the tank hood to let the true master of the tank eat his wafers.  the sea monster answers to no one, and no one even ventures a question.
