I have been thinking a lot about what could be done differently as far as the pop quiz we had in class the other day.
One idea was to identify the 4 dimensions of literacy within our own lives. Before we analyze the lives of students through the lens of literacy, we should be able to look at our own lives and see where the 4 are. Do we read as much as we expect our students to read? Do we have as much variation in multiliteracies as they do?
With this sort of exercise, not only do we have to know what the dimensions are, but we think about them as applied to real life. By bringing them into our own reality and space, we can more fully understand what they mean.
