get darker and darker down toward the base, its important.

i was just reminded of how long 20 years can be.

god bless DVR.  it makes possible what before was only possible with a VCR and many, many blank tapes, not to mention either programming it on the right days or just being home when it was on.  but now... now you just program the DVR once, and off it goes.

since i can't sleep until the tylenol cold nighttime liquid kicks in (aka the blue death), i'm watching the DVR'd episodes of 'the joy of painting.'

when these shows were made, DVRs didn't exist, the internet wasn't a commonplace thing, and to 'google' probably implied something dirty.

bob ross is talking about alaska, as he so often does, and he says there is enough beautiful scenery there to last a lifetime of painting.  for those who do not live near mountains, he says, you could always go to the library and look at books about mountains, or art books with mountains in them.

for a split second, i think to myself, 'why not just google mountains?' but i stop myself... and try to remember....

i think about how long ago this was filmed, probably when the creators of google were still throwing spitballs at their crushes in some classroom somewhere.  i do not actually know, but bob ross died in 1995, at which time the pair who founded google were both just starting in college.

fifteen years.  and this show is still on every week.
